On February 28th, the Head of Mordovia, Vladimir Volkov, held a working meeting with the Deputy Minister of Agriculture of Russia, Maxim Uvaydov, who arrived to the Republic the day before to conduct a meeting with representatives of the Privolzhsky Federal District regions on ensuring epizootic welfare and implementing the export potential of the agro-industrial complex. As part of this event, the participants visited a number of agricultural enterprises of the Republic and social facilities built under the state program for rural development, got acquainted with products of Mordovia enterprises of agriculture and processing industry. During the working meeting with the Head of Mordovia, the Deputy Minister express a high opinion about the development of the Republican agro-industrial complex in general and the work of the veterinary service, which is important for livestock industry and agricultural export development. The Deputy Minister noted the high export potential of agro-industrial enterprises of the Republic. Currently, 12 Mordovia enterprises export agricultural products to 24 countries around the world. By the end of 2024, the agricultural export capacity in the Republic should reach 50 million dollars. Halal product segment was named as one of the promising export areas. The Head of Mordovia said that a number of enterprises of the Republic are already developing this direction, and noted the need for interregional cooperation to promote further the markets of Asia region. "Halal market is very large, and we need to get there. Therefore, it is necessary to unite with partners from other regions, in particular from Tatarstan, in order to enter this market," Vladimir Volkov said. The working meeting was attended by Prime Minister of Mordovia Vladimir Sushkov, First Deputy Prime Minister-Minister of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Mordovia Vladimir Sidorov, Head of the Republican Veterinary service Alexander Kechaykin.
